Description

Pine wood cross brace for  stretcher bars. Cross brace is 1.5" wide and 0.56" thick, made in China.

Brace to go with the Professional Quality stretcher bar.

Crossbar with matching recess for stabilising larger formats created with the  Stretcher Frames.

Depending on the frame size and tension, unattractive bending can occur in Stretcher Frames covered with canvas. The crossbar, inserted before applying the canvas, prevents this.

For formats over 70 cm, two crossbars may be advantageous. The crossbar is not suitable for building the actual frame itself.

A brace is required on any stretcher over 48 inches. Always brace with the shortest length. For instance, a stretcher of 20″ x 48″ will require a single 20″ brace.

When both dimensions excede 48 inches a cross brace is required. When selecting CROSS BRACES please ensure that you select one Green brace and one Red brace otherwise the braces will not fit together.

When the artwork is hung frameless- these are the best bars to use for a clean modern Gallery Stretching \ Museum Stretching finish.

We recommend use of our CROSS BRACES (middle bars) for strips over 30", to maintain frame strength. Corner braces are recommended for added stability when stretching sizes 36x48 and larger.
